Defying Gravity

Dear reader,

The day started with a trip to the Olympic park and up to the top of ArcelorMittal Orbit which i first went up 2 years ago during olympics but it was more restricted due to higher numbers visiting last time. And this time we could stay longer up there and had option of coming down lift or stairs something i had no choice over last time due to numbers visiting.

The olympic stadium has completely changed since london 2012 and last year when i completed national lottery 5 mile run inside of stadium. Its hard to imagine how it will look in 2016 when it reopens as west hams football stadium as it looks so different. I do hope it will still be used for athletics. Would love to volunteer there in 2017. The park has also changed since my last visit though i did briefly see a little part of it in june when i took part in a wacky race. I cant believe how different the park is and its atmosphere compared to the summer of 2012.

Back to the orbit, we opted to take a walk down the 455 stairs back to the bottom by which time my legs turned to jelly i am not kidding they were shaking.  I would go back up the orbit again in a couple of years when the stadium and park have developed further.

We then headed over to the tower of london to see the sea of red poppies surrounding the moat of the tower of london. As i arrived i was expecting crowds of people so much so i was expecting to not be able to get near to take photos but to my suprise it wasnt as busy as i feared. Suprised to learn they have sold out of poppies i feel lucky to have ordered one just in time yesterday it seems.

We then had a walk round st katherines dock near tower bridge before coming to embankment to watch the world go by a little bit.

To finish off our last full day in London off to see Kerry Ellis as Elphaba in Wicked. Defying Gravity.

Claire x
