Just over half way through blogtober dear reader hope you
are enjoying the content so far.
Anyway lets continue taking a trip down memory lane and
continue on the volunteering journey.
1st June 2011 saw my interview to be part of
the London 2012 Olympic Games. After attending the selection event at The Baltic
in Gateshead it wasn’t until February
2012 that I got a role offered to me as part of the Event Services Team for the
London 2012 football tournament at Wembley Stadium in London. After this came
the role specific raining and venue training ahead of an experience that I will
never forget from 27th July right through to 12th August
2012.
Over the experience I meeted and greeted spectators answering
questions they had and helping them to have a great experience and enjoy the
atmosphere. No 2 shifts were ever the same due to the different teams playing
their fixtures at Wembley and the different locations I was allocated to work
in each shift.
Aside from loosing most of my valuable possessions whilst
I was out volunteering on my penultimate Gamesmaker Shift I had a great
experience.
London 2012 was the catalyst of what was to come…
Think this article about volunteering is great and so
true
