Dear reader,
I consider today to have been a really good day, I may
not have hit any targets I set yesterday so going to have to try harder
tomorrow but after the last couple of days of not feeling myself today has been
so much of a better day so relieved things have improved at least for now that’s
the main thing.
Today has been a good day in many ways, it was my dads
birthday today and dad agreed to do his first parkrun on his birthday. My mum
also did her 18th run today and got a PB.
Today also marked a milestone for me, exactly 17 months to the day and date of starting to volunteer with Newcastle Parkrun, today marked my 50th time volunteering and I wouldn’t change anything. Heres to the next 50 times involved. I have met so many people in the parkrun community and their support for me volunteering has been amazing, and the support i got today for it being my 50th time is appreciated.

As you can see I have mostly done Barcode Scanning, a
role which I previously been scared to try out believe it or not, but I gave it
a go and have never looked back, it’s a role I have grown to love and have got really
good at. It can be a challenging role at times though, I have to be quick
otherwise the queues start to build up and interfere with the finish funnel
area particularly if attendance is high. The weather can also make it
challenging, wet barcodes don’t scan so well, the sun can even interfere as if
too bright scanning is difficult , wet and windy even worse, too cold my
fingers freeze and harder to press the scanning button. I love it regardless.
Now for birthday cake
enjoy the extra hour in bed
Claire x
