Dear reader,
There are normal days.. and then there are eventful days, today would be entered into the eventfull category so pull up a seat.
Today marked the 10th anniversary of of a little known event called Parkrun that has now blossomed into a big 10 year old event from its humble beginnings in Bushy.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29488453 . Since May 2013 i have spent most of my Saturday Mornings volunteering at Newcastle's Parkrun and I wouldn't change anything for the world. I love it week after week.
I parked up by the Autumn leaves this morning and although i had a fall after spectacularly slipping on a leaf as i took a shortcut over a fence is the Gloomy autumn rain (serves me right never take shortcuts in life). It all happened so fast no idea how i ended up landing on my back and only hurting my arm. That done i quickly sprung back up cleaned myself up the best way i could, before continuing on to take my volunteering position doing my favorite volunteering role of Barcode scanning yes it may have been pouring it down, my my bum wet and muddy from my fall but i appreciated every thank you for volunteering today from the Parkrun Community. Just over 400 runners braved the rain to run today.. Well done to everybody in todays tough conditions both runners and volunteers.
Like a soap opera if today consisted of parts part 2 would consist of..
Out of 20,000 applications, 10,000 have been selected to be part of the "try outs" for Rugby World Cup 2015 6000 volunteers are needed to bring the rugby world cup to life in venues around the UK next year
I feel my Interview after the exhibition (above) went well. it helped i knew exactly what questions to expect having been interviewed for Olympics/Commonweath Games so went into it confidently selling my past voluntary experiences.
Also happened to bump into 3 amigos who I met from Olympics/Commonwealth Games/EuropeanAthletics Championships. All volunteer interviewers for #thepack
Ian Shillinglaw
Birthday Girl Nicola Lazenby
Roy Davis
That just about concludes today
eventful right?
Claire x
